Trelleborg, Sweden –Trelleborg is to invest euro 2 million in its operations in Malta, adding V-ring production and employing a further 50 to 100 people, the sealing company announced at a ceremony to commemorate 50 years of operation in the country.
Previously known as Malta Rubber, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta currently produces high volumes of O-Rings in standard materials for fit-for-purpose applications. A spokeswoman for Trelleborg told ERJ the move of production of V-rings was a result of a transfer of production within Trelleborg.
She added that the expansion of the Malta site and new employees is not solely attributed to the move but also to new business that has been won. The spokeswoman said about euro 2 million will be invested in Malta and about 50-100 people will be employed.
Trelleborg Malta currently employs 600 people, including 60 employees with over 40 years of service, and operates from Hal Far and Marsa. It produces and sells 25 million O-Rings per week to a global customer base.
“Marking 50 years is an important feat in today’s highly competitive market and I wish to thank all our employees for contributing to the company’s success,” said Martin Hignett, managing director of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta.
He added, “Through constant investment in technology, new working methods and the technical competence, flexibility and enthusiasm of our employees, we have built a ‘World Class’ organisation here in Malta that continues to impress our customers ensuring that we maintain our position as a world leader in the rubber sealing market.”
